Instead they will get R14 million to share if they win the Confederations Cup.

Anyone else find that really funny? Damn be realistic i am all for supporting my country but i know they have 0 chance of winning the confed cup, what do they think beating poland and norway means they now the best team in the world or what?

when will they realize that you actually have to win games in order to get paid?

Idiots. During the very beginning of the Clive Barker days all the players came from the local league, they all played for their country out of pride, it was only after they reached success and started getting international signings that they became so greedy. SAFA should have taken a leaf out of the Japanese book about how to improve a national team in a few years. Before Carlos Alberto Perreira quit he had given SAFA a list of to-do's which included the starting of academies and an under-21 league...once he left all of this was put aside.

I shudder to think what would have happened to our football had FIFA not awarded us the World Cup. Eish

Well, they backed down, probably because everyone laughed at them.

Pathetic. They're a joke anyway

They're a joke. Fire them all and get players in that actually want to be in the team that have some sort of pride in the nation.

The players have pulled this trick time and again days before they are due to play in a major tournament. The threats started in
1997, 24 hours before Bafana were to play England at Old Trafford in Manchester in a friendly.
The players last threatened to strike in Egypt in 2006, days before the African Nations Cup finals. Bafana ended that tournament in disgrace, losing their three first round matches without a point or scoring a goal.

we were ranked 22 in the world at one stage in 95....

Surely you mean 96/97? In August of 1996 we were ranked 16th in the world. That was when we were ranked number 1 in Africa as well. Also the last Confed Cup we played in was in that period (1997), we also qualified for the World Cup 1998 in France.

Such happy memories, *sigh*. To think, our football is the most highly sponsored sport in the country right now... and SA is ranked 72 in the world
