BAFO IrDA (SigmaTELUSB-IrDA Dongle)

Hi,

Thought I'd give XBMC a shot my some old equipment I have lying around.

Running Windows 7 64 bit on a Dual Core machine with 2GB RAM. I've downloaded the latest version of XBMC and tried installing my 7 or 8 year old Bafo IrDA BF 120.

The PC recoginses the device and continues to install a driver for SigmaTELUSB-IrDA Dongle. Under devices, it says all installed successfully and device is working correctly.It says the driver is the latest version available.

I then programmed both the MCE Remote and MCE Keyboard into my Logitech Harmony One ... loaded XBMC ... but nothing. I'm guessing the BAFOL doesn't work or something ... but

a) Has anyone ever used this IrDA receiver?
b) Is there a way to test that it works - like it's actually receiving codes?

EDIT : Through a cellphone camera I see the LED is randomly coming in every 5 seconds or so ... so it does seem to be doing somrhing

Consumer IR != IrDA

That is, your IrDA receiver will not recognise the IR signals that your remote is putting out.

You need to look at something that receives CIR, not IrDA.
