Where do you stowe a laptop in a bakkie?

Like, for insurance purposes in a car, it has to go in the boot. What about a bakkie?

And what about hatchbacks? Just a piece of something movable in the way...

Or sedans with an open boot button on the dash?

Exactly. A hatchback and backboard offer the same protection as a towel and the back seat.

I used to put mine behind the seat but also made sure i didn't put it there when i got out somewhere so that someone saw me doing it.

It appears as if there is nothing as "safe" as a boot.

Extra cabs have a cavity under their back seat as far as I'm aware? Would a laptop fit in it? Anyone know?

Check the contract. I know for my previous employer it was simply not covered if it isn't in a car with a boot.

Same as any other car from my experience.
They open passenger door or drivers door then use the boot lever to open the back. If that does not work they just force the seats down.

Oh, except for bmw's

You need to take the numberplate off and ddrill a little hole to get to the boot opening lever.

Most insurance companies require you to keep items of high value in the "permanently enclosed cabin" of the vehicle (not canopy), out of sight and if possible locked in the luggage compartment. Others will cover items in a canopy, but with the requirement that the windows of the canopy be tinted to a certain percentage.

What we've found is that most of these items are stolen by people who are aware of the items in the vehicle (they saw the laptop being carried into the vehicle or they've watched you over time and determined a pattern). They very seldom break in just to look for items of value - they already know it is there.

Pretty much the same as when they break into your house...

I specifically asked due to us having a hatchback. they said must be in boot. They also paid out the laptop and locks when our car was broken into.
