The winners will be revealed on 10th of Jan.

It's either Diego Forlan, or Lionel Messi.
Going by the WC, biggest event in the world: Top performer was Diego Forlan.
Going by the league, champions league, soccer we see all the time: Lionel Messi.

I hope Forlan gets it though, Messi's non-existent showings at the world cup could well cost him!

Judging from the list they're pretty much only looking at WC performances.

You don't even hear about half those guys during the regular season.

I really wonder how they going to do it. Forlan had a quiet season in spain, whilst Messi was dominating.
And then the world cup is the complete opposite... Maybe they must just give it to Fabregas ;)

Sneijder will take it, he was on blistering form for Inter and at the World Cup! Messi was nothing compared to Sneijder last season and at the world cup

As for Coach of the year. I'd say Jose

Hmmm, Sneijder does make sense.. But, I think if the league soccer is included, Messi's madness completely engulfs everyone.

Coach of the year must be Pep Guardiola, not only did his players win the league, Barcelona won the WC! - I hate Barcelona...

Should be Sneijder. absoultely boss season at inter and for Netherlands. Jose or Del Bosque will get coach.

yeah Sneijder, he also won best midfielder for champs league, but soft spot for Forlan, he played his heart out at the worldcup and playing well for Atletico Madrid.

Coach should be Jose Mourinho no doubt, won Champs league with Inter and now turning Real Madrid into a well oiled machine.

There's no doubt about who the best player in the world is. It's not about having the best team in the world, or it shouldn't be. So Messi wins it because Argentina suck!

It's between Sneijder and Forlan. If Messi comes within an inch of this award, then it would be complete bollocks. Sneijder played like a demon in both the WC and the ECL and the domestic league and has been giving really good performances this season (though whether they are on par with last season I don't know). Messi is a (very) distant third.

coach of the year: (heart) Ancelotti, (head) Mourinho

Messi might be more talented than Sneijder or Forlan, but that isn't the point. Anyway, since we're on that topic - Maradonna managed to pull a distinctly below mediocre Argetina to the World cup so Messi isn't as super as most people think. He still had great players in his Argentina team - Maradonna did not.

The only reason Maradonna could do that is because the quality of coke was so much higher :D
