Okay - weird post. So - ive been getting curious about the different varities of bananas available around the world (especially in Asia) and have become curious to know what they taste like. I know in SA we get mostly Dwarf Cavendish bananas - but I know there are many many other varities (Gros Michele, Lady Finger etc). Does any one know of any places that sell other types of Bananas in Durban?

(I am aware how perverted this post sounds)

Food Lovers market sell the Plantain - which is more suitable for cooking. Never tried it.

:D

Normally I would. Should I be disappointed in myself that all I could think of was this instead?

Not sure you'd be able to, the Cavendish kind of took over in the 1950s due to a disease.

I dont think commercial farmers would grow anything other than Cavendish - but more small producers maybe or garden growers?
