okay so im having Bandwidth issues, a cap update shows that i've used 450mbs (3gb Cap) in 2 days. I dont C how this is possible, as i havent downloaded anything at all, a bit of browsing here and there but nothing serious...

a friend of mine has a 1GB cap and he always makes it through the month downloading a lot more than me, playing Dota 24/7...

is it possible that programs can update themselves and that automatically? what could be downloading more than 100mbs per day....

Viruses, spyware. Any single program that updates. If those are all out of the question then you might be a victim of bandwidth theft... someone has your account and is downloading like mad.

To check, turn off your PC's and see what happens to your cap after like a day or 2.

You could also just download Bandwidth Monitor and monitor your internet connection.

Download managers and torrents could also be the culprit. Especially if you have items that have been queued and waiting for your cap on the 1st. ;)

If you are afraid of someone else using your account just change your password and see if that helps.

i have photoshop. adobe reader, so,,, could that be it?

my automatic updates are off, im about to go change my Password from my ISP, see what that does, thanks for the help

Adobe yes.. but wireless loses packets in the air.
go to start menu
go to run
type command
type ping google.co.za
check how much gets lost.. you are "billed" for the losses also.
I once used 33mb to download a 7mb file.

Packets Sent: 4 - Packets Received 4 - Packets Lost 0

umm so yesterday i tried something, i switched the router off the entire day, and left it on for just one hour, and nobody went onto the internet... and in that one hour of nobody going on the internet 11mbs was used...
with a bandwidth meter, does it have to be on all the PCs? or just 1
