Hi

What can I use to set up a bandwidth cap per month? Lets say ethernet port 1 gets 100GB data and Eth port 2 gets 100GB data per month.

Also is there a way to limit the download speed so the one user doesn't download at full speed and the other user has no available bandwidth left.

This is to limit internet. Not for gaming.

Thanks

Too many devices will connect through there. Some will obviously be phones, so a firewall won;t work.

What about a Mikrotik router?

ok so how does a firewall work? What would I need for that?

Its for my home. What model can you recommend? Any other manufacturers?

Seems like a firewall is then a bit pricey if only the licensing is already expensive.

3 options
A consumer router that has some features for limits
A proxy/appliance with gateway capability
Enterprisey/prosumer hardware with gateway capability

I have a TP Link router atm. I can limit the bandwidth at a specified time but I cannot control the amount of GB's a device can use per month.

Any specifics for me on the consumer router options?

Limiting the usage once it reached x-GB per month is kinda critical.

What I said in 10 posts, you said in one.

*hangs head in shame*
Lazy people learn to work smart, not hard

Any specifics for me on the consumer router options?
Asus - can limit per MAC on bandwidth ( kb/s ) - DSL-N1x models all have
TPLink - can set minimum and maximum bandwidth thresholds ( kb/s ) - TPLink AC1750,dunno bout rest

Here you start entering prosumer/enterprise hardware, because not only do you need to keep an eye on traffic NOW,you need to record usage

What's your budget?
