Hello everyone

I’m looking to use my huawei B618 to manage users bandwidth. I can see that the router itself does not support that functionality.

I have seen around the web that some are recommending Mikrotik Hap Mini be connected to the router to get this function.

I’m not sure how these two devices work together to give the management function , anyone has experience doing this?

You can use any Mikrotik basically. Best would be to check some examples on their forum and wiki. It's not as simple as clicking on the interface and you're done best to look at the examples and see if you're comfortable before buying the unit.

B618 in general is such a basic router, it doesn't even support IP reservation. For the price it's overrated

When you say manage bandwidth, are you meaning the sites at which the users connect to the vet or the amount of data they can use in a fixed time period?

Just asking for clarity before responding

Sorry for the late reply, I missed this response. I want to allocate a specific amount of data usage for a device.

Howdy - now my turn to apologise for a tardy response time :-)

Did you get sorted or is this something you're still keen to pursue? If so, how comfortable are you with networking tech as the Mikrotiks can be a bit difficult to work with.

Am happy to assist you once you get the mikrotik but you might need to make some amendments to your network. Do you have separate wifi access points + switches or is the Huawei serving the Wifi in your network?
