Hi Guys

I need to know how i can see the usage per ip address or computer name in Server SBS 2003 running ISA server 2004, we are going through way to much bandwidth and i need to see who has been using the bandwidth in the past or start catching them now, cause the owners are not happy and want it stopped!! Any ideas????

gee that is a good question we have sbs 2003 running at work and i know if you configure all the feature of sbs right it will give you those stats, dont know how to do that tho :)

Thanks tyerone. The thing is i never set it up and have just taken over this client cause of family friends, and have been dropped in the deep end!!

we were going thru **** loads of bandwidth at work to and wat i did is i run avg virus test on all the machines and one of the machine had a email "bug" on it, it was sending out thousand's of emails every night, got rid of that and all is good now, try that on ur pc's it could be that? just a thought, we hav bitdefender on the machines and it never picked up this little criter!!

The thing is i am only using a 10th of the bandwidth on mail as it pulls it all from my server and i see the logs for that, basically the have used 1.8gigs of data in total and only 300mb is email in the last 5days!

I setup a SBS Server recently. You need to stick to the Configure Server Wizard. From there you can do everything. In Enterprise you goto admin tools and do what needs done.

In SBS 2003 you need to go by the Server Configure *Wizard*, Wizard being the operative term. There you can view and setup logs and record infomation. Im not sure but somewhere there you can record bandwidth. If you have a few users I would advise installing a small client app like SoftPerfect Bandwidth Monitor on each pc. Then see who uses most.

One of the quickest ways you could also try is using a managed switch. Most have the options to show you who is using most of the bandwidth on the fly. Other than that you could use a linux gateway to do purely bandwidth management. Try ClarkeConnect, MikroTik RouterOS or MasterShaper.

Ie; you have 10 ips and each may only use 30kb/s, irrespective if they uploading a 10k text document or trawling youtube.

No stress i managed to finally find out how to do it, there is an automatic reporting wizard in ISA 2004
