I an designing a Gaming Room with 8 Online Gaming Computers and 4 X-Box Online Systems.

I am trying to fine out the amount of bandwith needed to operate all these Computers (Gaming Online) at teh same time without slowing down the system.

I an using cat-6 cabling.

What size, type of router will I need??

Can anyone help ot tell me where to go?????

I am using a 512kbps line and I can play COD on local servers with just over 100 ping on all 4 computers I have here. Normaly between 40-70.

Sorry can't be more helpful than that.

Online games are not very bandwidth hungry

You will find that a 512 ADSL line will be enough for general games. Maybe start off with a 512 adsl then if you have issues upgrade it to 4 meg it will take them a few days to upgrade the line after you request it.

As far as the router you need any ADSL modem should be fine D-link and netgear have some nice equipment but even the standard telkom modem is ok. You will maybe need a Switch or a hub to connect all the pc's through it though that you can get a 3com or linksys or something

hope this helps

Cheers

2 people can play Battlefield 2 at the same time without noticeable loss on a 384 ADSL line.
3 people playing Battlefield 2 on a 384 line = FAIL. Everyone gets disconnected.

So, by that logic, 12 people would require 6 384 lines.

6 * 384 = 2304.

So, a 4MB line should do it.

Also, each person playing BF2 will consume 50-100MB an hour.

But, more importantly, if anybody opens a web browser, the entire lot of them will suffer lag bad enough to get them kicked.

You will have to implement an invisible proxy server with it's own dedicated line for browsing.
