Does anyone know what the ADSL situation is like in the Banhoek valley, just over Helshoogte pass from Stellenbosch? Specifically the Capolavoro Estate next to Kylemore. Telkom's ADSL checker shows 4mbps for most of the complex, with a 10mbps here and there. I generally don't trust the website to be correct though.

Oh well, trying to ask @TelkomZA etc has not been very useful either.

The website only shows what the exchange supports your speed will still be determined by the length of your loop. In my case 2 meg is available but my line can just about get to 1 meg.

When I enter the phone number of a guest house across the road:

ADSL Availability
Service Available
Maximum speed available in your area 4Mbps (Copper)
Your Current Service speed 10 Mbps

Not really a sensible result. I would like to know where the DSLAM is located and what it supports.

Okay so after some pestering, Telkom tells me a new MSAN is planned and the cutover date should be in January. Well that is the plan. Still can't figure out where. Where can I speak to a actual human about this? 140 character Twitter messages are painful.
