I have to pay into my attorney's Standard Bank Trust Account. ABSA lists the following types for adding benficiaries :
Cheque
Savings
Transmission
Bond
Subscription
Credit Card

Which is the correct type to pay into? What happens if the the incorrect type is selected?

Test it by paying that money into my account by guessing my account type.

If you're a bit hesitent, a couple of weeks ago I had to EFT money to my attoney as well. They only told me its a trust account. I chose cheque since Standard Bank doesn't have that option.

Last week my attorney sent me an SMS to say they've received the amount. Now, I'm not sure that the account type had anything to do with them only sending me the SMS confirmation a week later. Or whether they only send SMS's on specific days /shrugs

Maybe just ask them or phone Absa . Not sure .

I would go for cheque account.

In my experience there is no difference between current/cheque, savings and transmission accounts.

One of those things that grates my tits is why were are when asked any of this crap any more.

You should have a QR code to send to people and have them add you details. No possible failure typing senseless crap by hand.
