I have an E-Plan account with Standard Bank and also have a Savings account linked to the same account.

I have just noticed that I get charged R3.70 to move money from the savings account to the current account and R5.75 to move it back into the savings account. What is up with that?! I know bank charges are high in this country but that is bordering on ridiculous!

I still qualify for a student achiever account, just. Does anyone know if it is worthwhile changing to this? What are the benefits? I currently pay R22 for internet banking and R7.50 admin fee each month.

Then there are the above transfer fees and the fact that a withdrawal from a Standard Bank ATM costs R5.50 and from any other ATM nealy R7 :(:(

No fees, no interest. InternetB is free. After 4 (5?) debit transactions p/m they start charging at a rate that is probably slightly above norm.

Works nicely for me (No fees/charges for the last year or so)...but might not be ideal for people with busy accounts.

No ATM withdrawal fees at all from SB ATM's?

Don't ever move from one bank to another over petty things, the longer you bank with a certain bank the more they will bend for you ;)

Only R20? I got charged R105 the other day.

Imagine that. I don't have money in the bank, but they charge me R105 because I don't have enough money in the bank. lol. Dumbasses

Common sense says that once a savings account is empty, it cannot go negative.

Seems the banks do love in punching an empty savings account into the red...
