Banking with Capitec

The only "problem" with them is that you can't withdraw cash inside. You can only withdraw from ATMs - If you need hard cash that is.
 
You draw cash from any Pick 'n Pay and Shoprite for R1 per withdrawal no matter how much the amount.
 
Does anyone know do they give their accounts to a CC? I will contact them of course just don't know when I'll get a chance.
 
I would like to bank with them but the main reason i havent switch yet is ATM's. I havent seen many of them. And i dont whant to have to go far out to get cash.
 
As deweyzeph said you can withdraw at Pick n Pay, Boxer or Score cashier for R1, or get cashback with purchase from Shoprite, Checkers or PEP.

I agree though haven't seen many ATMs the charge from another bank ATM is R6.75, how does that compare to other banks?

Does anyone (Stokstert?) know if you need a seperate security token for multiple accounts? Or can you have just one?
 
The problem with withdrawing from a PnP teller is that...we're in South Africa.

Considering the amount of people who are watched and then followed from ATMs when withdrawing large amounts, do you really want to ask a teller for a large sum of cash in front of so many people? I think not.
 
I have an account with them - and i have no issues, the dongle is a pain, but in reality its a minor hiccup as opposed to being ass raped everytime i walk in to Standard Bank.

They don't do business accounts at all, so no they won't give you an account for a cc.

You can withdraw from any atm for R6.75 if you really need the cash.

With fnb you pay:
R5.30+- for R1 - R500 and
R10.60+- for R500-1000 etc.

So you pay more if you're with fnb and withdraw R800 from an fnb atm than if you withdraw R800 from an fnb atm with a capitec card ;)

This is where CAPITEC shines. There non-branch ATM fees are often less than than that banks client fees. This was the only reason why I did not switch last year and then I found out recently that drawing from an ABSA ATM with a CAPITEC card is cheaper than drawing the same amount with an ABSA card.

One of the reason why I want to leave Standard Bank is the lack of ATMs where I usually shop.
 
Do they have student accounts....? I think it seems like a very good Idea to switch over to them from what I've heard so far:)
 
They only have the one type of account, but anyone can get it afaik.

I use any banks ATM with my Capitec card, ABSA, FNB or whatever, I don't care, at R6.75 to withdraw it's nothing compared to what the banks ask you to withdraw from your owns banks ATMs
 
The thought occured to me to change to them as well. Think I'm going to look into it soon. Anything should be better than the service we get from the other banks.
 
There is one main limitation, I wouldn't need it a lot, but apparently you can't make international payments.

Sure...? They seem to have fees for international point-of-sale...? Or maybe thats just when you actually travel....
 
Ja I did actually phone and ask, possible the consultant was misinformed though. I'm not sure if using the debit card at an online service that accepts debit would work? Hopefully someone else can comment.

I wanted to be able to "upload" funds to Entropay from it, looks like I may be able to use Moneybookers as in intermediary.

OT but does anyone know if "Mzansi" accounts let you make international payments?
