Just started doing it this week after my dad lost 30kgs on it. I thought it was one of those gimmick diets so never even bothered with it. I am now on day 5 and I have already lost 3kgs! I have been eating lamb chops, biltong with thick fats, full fat yoghurt, avocados etc and lost weight!! I was not planning on weighing myself so soon but I got curious. I was so surprised that I weighed myself on two different scales to be sure. I am truly amazed. Maybe there is some truth to High Fat Low Carb...:D

"I have been eating lamb chops, biltong with thick fats, full fat yoghurt, avocados etc..."

Thin...but financially ruined. Banting is the most expensive diet on the planet.

Like any diet it can indeed be expensive. But it can also be very cheap, which is how I do it...

You probably should start eating more veggies such as spinach, brocolli etc.

About R2000 a month more on groceries perhaps, which is very annoying. But a lot better than being a fat c$nt at 40.

I do eat lots of veggies. I was just listing the fatty foods that I am eating as it is unheard of to eat those things when you are dieting. I have to totally rewire my way of thinking.

Only if you follow those stupid meal plans with all the variety (which usually includes a bunch of expensive BS). I compared that to what my dietitian suggested (high carb low fat) and worked out to about the same.

Then I jumped off the sheeple track and looked what I needed.

Eggs. R2 per. 3 for breakfast with half avo and some bacon. Works me out to around R23 for breakfast, add some fancy stuff like cucumbers and tomato on the side, could up it to R35 per meal.

I don't have to eat lunch since I don't feel hungry.

For dinner, broccoli and some protein, usually chicken. Costs a bit more than breakfast. Sometimes I throw in some baked veg or a quick salad ontop of that cauliflower. If I want to be fancy I make a 100% cream based cheese sauce.

I don't snack on biltong or nuts because I'm not addicted to food anymore and have to chew stuff throughout the day or feel lonely.

I cut that fancy schmancy BS meal plans price by 2/3's

Sure its monotonous but its much more affordable than any kind of diet I've been on before, and it's there for fuel, end of story.

I'm not in search of variety because I'll get "bored"

/edit I do crave stuff that I've had in the past, but more of a nostalgic sense than anything else

Exactly what I'm doing. Not interested in zucchini spaghetti and cauliflower pizza...I mean, WTF?? For me food has become a source of fuel end energy during the week to sustain my training. Food used to be a treat or for enjoyment.

And over the weekend I eat basically whatever I want, but only a quarter of my usual old volumes.

I've kicked the banting gimmickiness to the curb a long time ago.

agreed

Something is wrong when you can get Banting pizza, Banting burgers, Banting ice cream, Banting chocolate.

I have to respectfully disagree. We make cauliflower pizza on the Weber so it gets a rich smokey flavour...amazeballs. I also make a dark lindt chocolate ice cream which is a nice low carb treat if you're off junk food.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying food, doesn't mean you have to be obsessed with it.

Making these things once every few weeks is not that bad also not a gimmick. Been eating this way for over 2 years since I can't eat anything with wheat anyway.
