Barbara G. Stymiest, FCA serves as Group Head of Strategy, Treasury & Corporate Services of Royal Bank of Canada (also known as RBC Financial Group) of Liberty Life Insurance Company and served as its Chief Operating Officer since November 1, 2004. Ms. Stymiest is responsible at Royal Bank of Canada for its strategic development as well as all corporate functions including risk management, finance and treasury. She is responsible at Liberty Life Insurance Co. for directing enterprise strategy, as well as all corporate functions including risk management, finance, human resources and treasury.

Previously, she served as the Chief Executive Officer of TMX Group Inc. (F/k/a TSX Group Inc.), until October 31, 2004, where she was responsible for overseeing the operations and leading the long-term strategic development of both the senior capital market - Toronto Stock Exchange and the junior capital market - TSX Venture Exchange. Prior to joining Toronto Stock Exchange, Ms. Stymiest served as Executive Vice President, and Chief Financial Officer of Bank of Montreal's investment banking division. She served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of BMO Nesbitt Burns and Partner of Ernst & Young LLP.

She has been Director at Research In Motion Ltd. since March 2007. She serves as Director of the Symior Inc., and Liberty Life Insurance Company. Ms. Stymiest serves as Director of the Canadian Depository for Securities, the Canadian Capital Markets Association, and the World Federation of Exchanges. She served as Director of Business Development Bank of Canada since August 15, 2002. She served as Director of TMX Group Inc. from October 12, 1999 to October 31, 2004 and previously from May 19, 1993 to June 10, 1999. Ms. Stymiest served as Director of TSX Venture Exchange Inc., Market Regulation Services Inc., and RBC Dexia Investor Services Limited.

She serves as a Member of Toronto Rehabilitation Institute Foundation and a Member of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research and the Royal Ontario Museum. Ms. Stymiest has also served on a number of professional and charitable organizations including the CICA Accounting Standards Oversight Council, United Way Campaign Cabinet, Toronto Rehab Foundation, Hincks-Dellcrest Children's Centre, and the Campaign Cabinet of the United Way of Greater Toronto. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. Ms. Stymiest obtained her honors degree in Business Administration (HBA) and MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.
