Hi

I've been given a Metrologic Instruments handheld barcode scanner
Model: MH941J

From what I can gather this needs a decoder,
anyone know where to get hold of one of these?

Tx

It's not software, looks like a physical box that sits between the scanner and the PC
I'll have a look at that software though, will most likely need that. Shot

what interface/plug thingy does the scanner have? USB or serial port?

If it connects via the keyboard port then it probably doesn't need anything.

Having said that, these devices can normally be set up to recognise specific barcodes, and this is normally done by scanning special setup barcodes. Go to their web site and look for a manual

Shot for the help.

It's a DB9 connector but the pinouts look nothing like RS232 so i'm not going to plug it in straight to my PC.

1 - flip sense
2 - Data
3 - Decode LED
4 -
5 - proximity detect ( vdc pull up)
6 - Laser/motor control (+5 VDC )
7 - Ground
8 - shield
9 - Scanner VCC

From the manual
Since there are many different types of decoders, refer to your decoder’s
documentation to connect the decoder to your host system.

Yeah had to Google against their website, the newer scanners have the decoder built in. This one's older which makes me think there's going to be
problems down the line for 64Bit drivers.

Any one looking to buy a Barcode Scanner ? :) Never been used so I'm told.
