I was directed to Cash Crusaders, corner Klipfontein Road and Hazel Road in Rylands. They have second hand phones from R 29,00 and new phones from R 69,00. Got a Vodafone 546 for R 300, brand new with guarantee. Hundreds to choose from, plus the usual other junk that Cash Crusaders sell, Dixon audio components, dodgy electric drills, etc

Lord if they are selling phone for R29 what amount did they give to the poor sod who sold it to them. They normally work on a 100% profit on phones (obviously if you exclude their running cost). Basically they give you R50 for an item, they then sell it for R100.

Looking at the R29 phones, I would not have given anyone anything for it. I think this branch of CC gets a lower income clientele, hence all the cheap stuff. However, how do they manage to sell new brand name phones for so cheap? No contracts, no activation, no RICA, no SIM, just pay for it and take it away. They had some Telefunken phones there which could receive TV too, but over R500. The sales person said they were pretty awful phones. There was a SONY PS-3, a bit grubby, for R 550,00.
