I made a couple of bartpe for usb drives in my time and most of them seems so bland.IS there no way i can spruce it up and make it look just a little like a OS.I kinda like something to have a vista feel or xp feel to it.
I know its nothing about the looks but there has to be something a person can do.
On another note adware plugin is not working correctly and i did copy the def file and exe file to the plugin directory.Anyone got this plugin to work.
 
Have a look at www.ubcd4win.com Uses BartPE, but it's got a heck of a load of tools preloaded. Compiling is as easy as viewing a bunch of screenshots ;)

You can add your own plugins/drivers/apps as you please. Might just take a question on their forum, or searching the net for a how to guide. Mostly it's self explanatory.
 
I am using mini PE XT start cd. Have a nice mine Xp based utility GUI. Should be avaiable and work on USB too.

Above are newer. Seems to me I need to upgrade too. :D
The boot disk is also usable with windows running.
Its full of preconfigured recovery tools. I use it to repair systems and get onto the net when all else fail.

Use UBCD4Win, it's extremely useful, and works while in a running Windows environment or off the CD. Off the CD, it looks almost like a full fledged version of Windows.

It's my new favourite recovery tool, since I can at last have what I need.
 
OK i used the xpe plugin in bartpe ,disabled the bart startup gui and enabled the ram drive 64mb.Its sweet looks really cool on boot up and i can access bart plugins and programs.A bonus is that i now have a real mini xp on usb.
Took me 8 minutes to compile it.I prefer usb over cd,its way faster.

HAd a look at it.Just dont want to many **** to work with bartpe.Usb booting is a funny thing sometimes:D

Had a look at it yesterday.To make a new plugin for yourself is daunting.MUst you edit the .ini file like in bartpe.Have you done this before.:confused:

Also in xpe plugin for bart i see you can create you own shortcuts/context menu and explorer menu's but seems of to much hassle with editing.

?? Same as with bart PE? Nice but a lot of work must be done to tune it for your needs. Therefore I use MiniPE-XT as it includes most options already to recover and browse a failed system drive. Just boot and enjoy. Even browse "porn" sites via Firefox etc. Works in ram drive.
 
downloaded ultimate boot cd 4 windows.It does take a long time to boot in ram from a dvd,dvd was padded:(.
Tried to make a usb version but there seems to be a problem with the grub4dos.I really dont know grub that well.I even tried to make a bootable iso on the usb stick but yet again the grub fked the thing up.
WIll try tonight with winbuilder(vistape)....have made bootable vistape with cd but still ironing the kinks out for a usb version.
 
thanks for the links.i finnaly got all the pe stuff and ubc4w to work from usb.I used the default grub settings on peusb program.
next will be making a triple boot system from 1 usb stick.

Just remember those links is the Bootable MiniPE XT version which is based on the BartPE concept. It's got many "Loanware" utils to solve problems on PC's. Would be nice to get it on a USB instead.
