Ever since we bought the house, one basin would always clog, I would fish a wire in there, and some hair, would come out and it would drain again, I would ask the wife and daughter to be more careful. Anyway it clogged again. This time nothing came out when fishing a wire down there. Decided to open the P trap, it broke on the first turn. Anyway the garden hose into the waste pipe, brought out a massive slimy thing thats probably been there since we bought the house. Clog is now clear.

Replacement:
This was under the basin:

Can I replace with something like this:

Main reason less connections as opposed to the original.

I prefer PVC. Might be a little harder to work with than rubber, but it's less prone to cracking.

You can change it to the rubber trap. It actually works better as when its clogged you just run hot water through it to heat it up a bit and then squeeze it with your hand to unclog it
I am just worried the rubber trap will not fit. They are not so cheap. If it does not fit properly it may have a bit of a kink that will clog. easy.
As for how long the rubber trap last. Easy 20+ years, as long you don't throw too many drain cleaners down it.

Anyway, I back at it, bought the rubber p trap. Soaked it in hot water goes nicely on on the waste pipe.

Problem is I cannot loosen this, my water pump pliers dont fit and my oil filter leather strap wrench dont have enough clearance to turn, any suggestions?

You are referring to the plastic ring..?

You can, but it's nog going to stop from clogging if that's why you wanted to do it.

Get a bottle trap to easily clean it.

Thanks will look into it, right now, I just need advice on to get the white plastic nut off where I cannot get an ordinary tool in due to likoted space.

Its plastic. just cut it with a utility knife or small saw.
Just cut one line through and then peel it off.

Was thinking similar, but with my dremel. But the utility knife is a better idea.
You can even melt a line through with a soldering iron. A bit messy, but probably the easiest and will not hurt the threads. Not that the threads will matter if you push a rubber hose over it

Cut it out, maybe 5 minutes. The rest of the time was trying to tighten the clamp. My shortest flat head dont fit. Will go buy a stubby screwdriver.

Aaaaah, the good times of DIY'ing. The multiple trips to builders or wherever for that one item/tool always missing. I wonder if it will ever stop. Probably not.
