Brights has a large variety of SLA batteries in different voltages, dimensions and capacities..Hi, not sure if this is the correct forum to ask: Where am I able to source these batteries?![]()
Thank you. Made contact, their Blackheath branch can make up the bigger battery but the smaller flat ones they are car remote control batteries and I hope someone can assist in directing me to a place that may be able to assist.Brights has a large variety of SLA batteries in different voltages, dimensions and capacities..
Car remote control batteries or remote controlled car batteries..?Thank you. Made contact, their Blackheath branch can make up the bigger battery but the smaller flat ones they are car remote control batteries and I hope someone can assist in directing me to a place that may be able to assist.
Sorry, remote controlled car batteries. 8v 850mAH. Is there perhaps a 9v or alternative that could work? The hobby shop near me closed down and will search for others in greater CT region. Preferably Southern SuburbsCar remote control batteries or remote controlled car batteries..?
If I am reading through the blurry bits of the picture correctly, it seems they are 8v 850mAh batteries..?
If so, I don't think you are going to find them easily off the shelf.. 8v is not a common voltage.. you may have better luck trying the agents for the car(if it's car remote control batteries) or hobby shops(if it's remote controlled car batteries)..
Thank you, will look into that option. Sounds like a plan that can work.i gather the smaller flat packs ,drive the 2 servos for steering ,a 5 volt li ion cell battery pack will maybe work get a cheap battery bank .take it apart and see if the loose cell slides in ,mods will be needed though for charging and supply side

any old lead acids will now be scrap .rather try retrofit with li ionOkay..
I phoned my local hobby shop in tygervalley.. I could almost hear the guy fall flat on his back when I asked if they happened to have the batteries you need.. I suspect you may get the same result from other hobby shops, unless they happen to have really old stock lying around.. at the same time though, shelf life is a concern too..
He provided two options:
International Power Products in Montague Gardens build up batteries and could likely build a pack for you..
Take the remote controlled car in and see if the system the battery powers can be replaced/retrofitted for lithium based batteries..
I really appreciate the effort and time you took to assist. I hope to return the favour one day.Okay..

Made contact with International Power Products and they confirmed they can do both. I need to bring in the samples and they will make up the batteries. I am hoping they have a lithium solution...lets see when I get there. Thanks again @WAslayer!Okay..

Hi, a worthwhile option to explore. Need to do some further homework on this. ThanksThe cheapest option would be to get a buck converter like this https://make.net.za/product/dc-dc-b...LvkaqTKRYtKApbPw5wYYdZCPVJCZe_8hoCTdUQAvD_BwE
Then set the output voltage to 8v.
Now you can use any battery pack between 8.1 and 35 volts.
It will cost you R22.50 and a few minutes with a friend's multimeter.
