I have just replaced a battery at Battery Centre. Unfortunately, this was done in a bit of a hurry...

Reading the invoice, I have been charged for the battery (expected), then there is a charge for "AUTO BATT SCRAP LOADING" of R287.50, but also an amount of -1 for -R287.50 for "SCRAP RETURN". These obviously cancel. Reading this, it looks like I have been paid nil for the returned battery. Am I wrong? Should I have sold the old battery elsewhere?

you would have paid that amount more if you had kept the old battery .
Okay. Understood. Although the R3287.50 would definitely be on the opportunistic side... Unfortunately the CCA and capacity specs made AGM a requirement.

that sounds like 110 amp standard cycle .merc maybe? in the boot of the car .

Find another battery seller. He scored his scrap money twice.
