Morning all,

I have noticed that my MBP's Battery Health as indicated by iStat Pro has gone down from 100% to 99%, never going above 99% anymore. Is there a reconditioning procedure (like for the older batteries) to fix it?

Thanks

Bound to happen over time - how many cycles is it reporting?

If you do have any concerns about the Battery of your Macbook pro you can download the ASD (Apple Service Diagnostics) Disc from Apple's Support Page.

When you run the program select the Power Tests, The Battery performance is tested in much detail. Tempreture/Discharge Time and Recharge time, Battery Performance and Battery load.

Also make sure that your Battery is not part of Apple's Battery Recall, if you could drop me a PM with your batteries Serial number (Located under the Battery) I will check on GSX for you.

Cool - is that superior to the hardware diagnostics tools that come on the install cds?

EDIT - I'm looking for the Apple Service Diagnostics disk but cant seem to find it - are you sure it's available to us plebs? :D

Ok I just checked my batt and here is the details

Batt Health 95%
Cycles 41
sn kf637hc3ty4b

Hope its not a dud.

Every time I power up the MBP, I forget to check the battery serial number :(

I thought only batteries from the 15" MacBook Pro, Powerbook and iBook were part of the recall?

I popped out my batt on the fly mate.... its hotplugable.

I have the MBP 15" but its the Core Duo and not the new Core 2 Duo.

Love the machine

Some PowerBook G4, iBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook computers may not show the battery as 100 percent charged in Mac OS X, even when the power adapter is plugged in. The battery appears to stop charging between 93 percent and 99 percent. (PowerPC-based computers may stop charging between 95 and 99 percent; Intel-based computers may stop charging between 93 and 99 percent.)

This is normal. The batteries used in these computers are designed to avoid short discharge/charge cycles in order to prolong the overall life of the battery. Because of this, when setting the Mac OS X battery status menu bar icon to display charge state by percentage, you may notice that the reported charge stays between 93 or 95 percent and 99 percent. When the battery level eventually drops below 93 or 95 percent, it will charge all the way to 100 percen

Hey there Gunslinger,

I got my guys to check your battery on GSX and they are going to get back to me Early Afternoon. If it is part of the Battery recall then we can warranty it for you.

Need I start worrying about battery recall for a Macbook bought in Jan 07??

Battery Recall...

Basically the battery recall was close to end of last year and since then there has been a new revision of the Mavbook pro that uses Lithium Polymer batteries that are less prone to Overheating.

There is however still stock floating around there that are still 2nd gen Macbook Pro's. So even tho you got your machine in '07 it still may be an August 06 machine for example.

C3 - I sent my S/N via PM. Please check for me as I got mine in July '06

Hey there Landyman, I got your SN, am processing through GSX. Should get this to you within the Hour

The only story I ever heard was sorry, we're waiting for stock. My iBook battery was supposed to be swapped out but not being able to physically bring it in I'm basically SOL it would seem.
