My Nokia E72's battery life has suddenly halved, barely getting through a quiet day, where previously it was pretty consistently managing two days or more.
I haven't changed my usage pattern - Bluetooth on, sync to my laptop, low call volumes, low average wifi and data usage. The only recent change was to reset my phone to factory defaults, in an attempt to cure intermittent hanging.

Any suggestions on what may be causing the battery life problem? Anyone else sseeing a sudden decline in battery life?

check if the phone is keeping an acive packet data conncetion. u will see solid double lines below the 3G or 3.5G symbol. If it is, this could drain the battery fast. You need to long press the 'call end' button & it then asks if u want to end the packet connection. Dont know hay it does this.

Also, do u use Nokia push e-mail?

My battery usually lasts 5 days :) but im obviously not a heavy user.

do u ever get teased about your nick :)

Thanks, Rands!
We lives and learns (well, sometimes)... And yes, I use the push email for my Gmail account (and no, it doesn't download anything except headers until you open the item, and no, it doesn't download the endless spam either).
As for teasing, if an old fogy wants to use a qwerty phone that's not a Blackberry, the only person likely to be teasing is his wife.

Batteries can build up a "memory" so after a while your phone would tell you the battery is low, when in fact its not. You can always "discharge" your battery, but that requires some LED's of various voltages, solder and little bit of electronic knowledge. You basically drain all the power out of your battery, then "boost" it once its completely dead. And charge for 12-14 hours like its a new battery.

This used to be the case with Nickle Cadmium batteries, but it doesn'y apply newer technologies.

I like to let the battery run down to where it swithes off every few months and then to recharge. I notice the Lenovo laptops even have a utility to do this for you!
