Battery Life + Telkom LTE

i must compliment my broadband on breaking the news of the LTE battery drain issue. i did a experiment and roamed of mtn and what a colossal difference it made with regards to the battery life. There is definitely a issue with telkom mobile LTE. Think i will switch to 3G mode to test the results.Hope telkom sorts its hardware technical issues.
 
Telkom is now on par with the useless CellC
 
ah good to hear that this issue has been fixed. i guess i will now be porting

Thank you. I'll give it another try. Would be nice if MBB did another test anyway, so we know how much improvement compared with the others.
 
Just to add my 2 cents - I've been scratching my head for weeks as to why my battery drain on my S8 plus is so bad. I've factory reset and uninstalled every app possible! Then I saw this thread and forced 3G and lo and behold, I've gained about 30% extra battery at the end of the last couple of days! So I can definitely say that Telkom hasn't fixed anything out here in Richards Bay...
 
Has anyone done a test to see if the fix has brought them on par with other networks? I want to go on contract but don't want the new phones battery to age prematurely if the issue hasn't been fixed completely.

The tests I did recently on 2 Samsung galaxy s8 phones where that Telkom was actually lasting than Vodacom for me on some days. At work Telkom coverage is 1 or 2 bars compared to Vodacom full LTE-A bars but Vodacom still drains a bit more. I'always carrying 2 S8 with me. 1 Vodacom and 1 Telkom so noticed a big difference in battery life on Telkom. It improved so much can't believe it actually.

It looks like they reduced power to help fix this problem.
I no longer get LTE-A at my place, only LTE, and that only just makes it :(

No problem here, full signal and im on my second day of battery.
