Battery Problems

I am not sure what you mean by a remote cable. He took out a cable with four heads from his car, connected the other two to my own battery terminals and the other two to his own, started his car and instructed me to try to start mine.

Blue/yellow cable on the radio. You attach it so that the radio goes off when the ignition is off.

Then why would it not start when we were jumping it with another car? Assuming the battery was flat.

It is supposed to start when you are being jumped, the only thing that can stand in your way is the immobiliser, mine sometimes take a couple of minutes to come on after I pressed, sometimes it turns on first time.

Pitbull blue remote cable normally meant to switch on a amplifier or powered antenna

Yes you're right apologies I got confused. The remote is for the amp. But there is a yellow wire for the ignition. The headunit should not be on if the ignition is off.

Yea just wanted to point out incase he blows radio :)
One is yellow other is red

You can't have your cake and eat it.

Obviously these new ones expect to be wired to the ignition to prevent this.

So either keep taking the face off or remove it properly.

Why do you need the radio when the car is off anyway? How often are you in that situation in the real world...and why can't you just turn the ignition on if you really need to us it like that?
Why are the "new" ones any different to the old ones, they play sound through the speakers, the ignition wire is for convenience only, some people want the radio off with the ignition off/Key out, I don't.

They do a lot more **** like USB and iPods and what not these days.

But I don't know, ask Pioneer.

They do but only when switched on, shouldn't when in standby, not nearly enough to flatten a fully charged car battery in 2 days.

Obviously they have some glitch in the design because even when switched off the USB flash drive plugged into the face remains warm to the touch.

Alpine all the way, better everything incl sound quality and features.

The thicker cable between the red and yellow goes to the battery, usually the yellow one and the red goes to the ignition. If the radio loses the time when the key is off then the two cables should be swopped.
