Is there a proper, weatherproof enclosure specifically for batteries ? Does anyone here actually store batteries outside ?
Could the heat in summer be an issue ?

There are outside weatherproof cabinets but they are pretty industrial looking and expensive. Also, no way my wife was having one on the stoep where we had to install everything (nowhere else suitable)

So I keep my inverter and batteries on my stoep in a cupboard that we altered to fit the equipment. The stoep is fairly deep so that's what is keeping the rain off, but the cupboard will keep any little splashes or drops off during heavy weather.

Maybe no use to you but depending on your circumstances and area available it might help you formulate some ideas.

What temps are the batteries running at?

Love the final execution / look of it

At the moment 27 degrees. I checked on them throughout summer and nothing was too drastic. BMS has alarms and nothing triggered, plus Hermanus doesn't get too hot and cabinet has holes drilled in the sides and it's a bit off the back wall so there is plenty of air.

Thanks. Pretty chuffed with it actually :)

@Spizz that's very neat and yea that would be perfect !

I was a bit paranoid at first and kept checking during heavy rain and wind. But it's nicely sheltered so no issues so far. It was installed in October so still got winter to go through but we've had some serious storms already so not too worried.

Yeah that's ideal then.
In a vented room I struggled to keep temps down below 33 degrees indoors in Paarl on hot days.

What is the preferred temp ?
As low as possible ?

just keep an eye on humidity in the enclosure if outside ,a simple reptile meter is fine ,you dont want condensation .my inverter and battery are just under the eves 2.5 metres high ,been there for years and have never has an issue yet .

What i have seen on miners
If the fans spin really hard
The grid that protects the fan blades cools down and eventually i get condensation on it on humid cool days

Though i think the inverter fans don't spin as fast so maybe less of a problem

But then again had more fresh air coming in

So may not apply

Have you tried using one of these ?

Managed to keep the moisture out of our cupboards with them.

Not running miners anymore i just recycled some of the hot air to the front that solved the problem of getting to cold

ie inverter in the cupboard would do the same ie warm up the cupboard and thus reduce the chance of condensation

Edit "finding the balance though of hot enough but not to hot
