Rodent has and i see 2 other sites have been registered..... so lets rather do something

All that is needed is a Nameserver to list on and RoDent has told everyone where that can be found aswell.

Guys its time to stop talking and do something....if you want to get involved in the URL debate

I am Gatvol of everyone having and opinion and then claiming they dont have the technical knowledge......Go and GET THE KNOWLEGDE it is all out there
 
Google rankings aren’t sensitive to country specific domains.

IMHO the site shouldn't be hosted in ZA at all.

The best possible option would be to have it hosted by an offshore civil liberties group or a civil minded foreign individual.

If we write up a good submission story for www.slashdot.com I GUANRATEE you we will be inundated with hosting offers. That’s what they are like other there ... civil liberties are taken much more seriously than in ZA. And it IS a good story:
-We're paying prices for bandwidth that would make most Americans feint.
-It's a david vs. goliath story.
-Corporate suppression of free speech.
-Abuse of the legal system to stifle free speech.
-Introduction of new technology.
This is the stuff that Slashdot lives for!

All we need is a one longish paragraph concisely listing the story and asking for foreign hosting. We can link to the Google cache of the original www.mywirelesssucks.co.za site to give the people an idea of what the site would be like.

Just the facts, we don’t need to embroider them at all, the raw facts are damming as hell to SenTech anyway.

One thing though we need the content ready for the site, before we do this.

A story on Slashdot will get us all the hosting we need ...

I'll start on the paragraph tonight.

Edit: Slashdot is the biggest hardcore user-submission based tech news site on the web. Hundreds of thousands of daily readers and contributors... And they have a history of helping out in situations like this.
 
Well, if you need actual speed ratings, I have been tracking my speed since the 18th (daily usage graphs), and have been providing it to Sentech. I also do speed ratings now and then that I also store. From the graphs as a 256k user I ain't happy (if I was a 128k user, I would have been a bit happier yesterday, as it finally managed to reach to consistent speeds between 6k and 9k). Still not the bandwidth that one can - or should - get, but better than the previous days.

I am going to continue tracking, and in five week's time if (when) the speeds still suck, I am going to pull contract entry 11.4.2 on them. What the heck, it is worth a try. But, if you do want actual speed graphs, let me know - all pretty png format...

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?
 
Slashdot's very US-centric, so I doubt they'd find an issue of mostly local relevance interesting, but I guess it's worth a try .. :)
 
These sites must be hosted offshore for a very simple but important reason. Annoyance and costs. For Sentech to get Bowman Gilfillian to write you a letter probably cost them a few hundred bucks. If Rodent was overseas, it's a totally different ballgame. Bowman would have to appoint an American correspondent willing to take the case on their behalf. The US Laywers will have a look at the case, work out what the worst case scenario could be (costs wise which would include at least a motion to defend the action) and ask for a deposit before anything will happen!!! Thus some nice dollars.

If we register domains all around the world, it will become costly for Sentech to take action and they would probably just give up. We should maybe have a look and see which countires are lax on laws and protective of "Right to free speech"

Ditch I think they may. Hosting mostly content for Open Source and Linux freak, they hate anythng bullyish....

I wonder what they would do if you used a Dynamic server and hosted the site using their service. [:D] If each one of us did that they would have to cut all of us off and then any agreement would be null and void.
 
Sentech are trying to list shortly, I see US (thats not the USA) as a major problem to that listing unless they sort out this problem

I wouldn't buy one share with this disatisfaction problem hanging over their head

Are they going to do dual listing locally and in the US e.g. Nasdaq?

If so we can REALLY put heat on them by letting potential overseas investors know whats up.

US Tech-related stock brokers DO read sites like slashdot.
