Battlefield 2: Special Forces

True. I got one round as SAS and the weapons are cool, and the accents a laugh.

I see the tw!ts are still in SF though. I was throwing grenades out of a window last night, when this dumba$$ pushes me out the way so he can snipe. Obviously the grenade hits the wall etc etc and then he punishes.

*tard.

Pearls of wisdom from playing SF on Geeks server last night till 1am (Eish I'm still trying to wake up!)

1. The helicopters are insanely difficult to fly, so if you are like me and can't fly, don't try and learn on SF.
2. The helicopters do not take kindly to landing upside down...must be a design flaw
3. Trees are not helicopters best friends i.e. helis are not tree huggers
4. These helis tend to drift far more the in bf2, not that I noticed. Generally when you crash 2 feet of the ground you don't get to drift much!!!

To geek and Xeye....great fun last night...I tested your patience no end!!!!

Heh,

I think next time I'll start up plain vanilla BF2 - The choppers handle quite differently. They don't 'float' as much.

Man, I'm struggling to stay awake today!

Not sure when I'll be able to do the local thingy again. Got a batchelors tonight, and a wedding (different person) tomorrow arvy. Mebbe Sunday, if I'm not feeling too dead.

Since 2 players coming down my ADSL seemed to handle fine, we should see if we can add a third and see how it goes. At least then we can do 2 a side heh.

BTW - I checked my bandwidth usage for last night, it wasn't much, about 180Mb total. Incoming was about normal, just outgoing increased from about 20mb to around 90mb. Prolly cuz we were talking so much :) -- Not all of it was BF2 either. That was my entire usage for the day.

I don't mind trying to host either...we played for almost 3 hours...

I had a dedicated server running on my wife's machine - my old machine.
Maybe we can try see what happens when I enable battle recorder, although there are dire warnings about performance issues when it's enabled. Since the machine is fairly powerful, and it's only a couple of players, we can give it a try to see how badly it affects the game.

*Ahem*

Back to the thread topic . . . . ;)

I need help in SF, I have a new pet peeve and need to know if anyone knows how to fix it:

"Tags!" Flipping millions of them!

Now I realise one of the biggest problems in BF is TKing, so it's one thing to want to show tags on all your team mates. But now we get

Squaddies
Teammates
Pointers to squaddies you can't see
Objectives
Flags

On a Dark claustraphobic map like Leviathan, I can't see the flipping battlefield for all the damn tags in my way! Anyone know how to adjust the way they display?

Oh, and quads RULE for kamikaze!

Yup - I concur - they're a nuisance.
A sniper laying on the ground in a corner with 20 name tags in green and blue is invisible.
No Idea how to turn them off / dim them though .

Aaargh!

While the idea of driving a forklift into combat has always been appealing, it would be nice to play any map besides leviathan or mass destruction. I haven't played anything else in two weeks!

Where is everybody?

Ok, I gave in and got a copy of BF2 Special Forces (only R172 on Kalahari) and now there are no players on the servers... What gives??

Werd. I see there's only 10 players on it.

Who knows, maybe ppl have given up on it already? :p
