Battlefield 2

Yes, I also find it eats about 40 to 50MB per hour, aka a huge bandwidth hog, but still fun.

nasty

after some posts and some replies from the masters, i have decided to get the all-you-can-eat account. Hopefully that should cover the bandwidth usage and then some.

c u all on the server :D

Hi again, long time since i stopped by.

I am looking to buy myself a birthday present - I think it's going to be a GFX card [AGP 8x only :( ]... but with all the choices, these are my options:

Gigabyte nVidia GeForce 6600 - 256MB 128Bit (R 995)

-- or --

Gigabyte nVidia GeForce 6600LE - 128MB 128Bit (R 799)

-- or --

Gigabyte ATI Radeon 9600 Pro - 256MB 128Bit (R 899)

I really am unsure about these, but I need to keep it under a grand. This card would be replacing my LeadTek Winfast A360 which is essentially a GeForce 5700.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

6600gt

Thanks, I really appreciate the help.

I am wondering if there is cash left for a sound card and ram too ----- my bank is going to hate me. :)

I got myself a PCI-X 6600GT it's awasome... can finally run BF2 on MAX with no glitching... can see much further now to!!

I would recomend RAM before sound... when / if you do go for sound, the entry level creative's are awesome... however, I don't know what speakers you have, but creative have some pretty cheap sets that really kick but!

Thanks again

Well, after looking around, i cannot find my Ram modules listed on the price list from my supplier, but to throw in another 512Mb PC133 transcend should not be too bad.

So far I got the following down as to buy for my birthday

Logitech Precision Gaming Headset
Sound Blaster Audigy2 Value PCI Sound Card - 8 Channel Surround Sound

RAM - to be found
Gfx - to be found

KE ? What ?
6600GT [256 MB Ram or 128 MB Ram ?]

Reason : I've got a 6600GT PCI-E - 128 MB Ram. I cannot run my BF on high - it crawls.

Well, I would definitely be gunning for a 256MB card - 128Bit (256 Bit is beyond my humble budget constraints)

6600 gt will never run bf 2 high

pci e doesnt make that much difference its like 5-10% increase (nothing)

games dont utilize the amount of bandwidth that pci offers so for now pci e is future technology

Does anyone use/recommend one of those Logitec gamepads for BF2? Im so tired of missing the Z to lay down....
Try mapping Z to C. It's sooo much easier to press.

/me agree's with doob ... a 6800GT with 256 MB can be run on high, not a 6600GT with 256 MB though.

okay cool, that makes sense.... so your run key would then be bound to ??

I am only asking because i just got my new phones and mic combo and remember something about C being mapped to a communication (squad or comm. i do not recall.)
