Hell yeah, hope they don't F it up. Better Net Code please.

This is it! We are very excited to announce the first details on Battlefield 3 and to kickstart the preorders for the Limited Edition!

Battlefield 3 is the true successor to Battlefield 2. Beyond our signature multiplayer, we have also included a full single-player campaign and a co-op campaign – all straight out of the box. As for fan favorite features, how does the return of jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer (on PC) sound? All this built with our powerful new game engine Frostbite 2, which you'll hear and see a lot of in the months leading up to launch. For the full reveal on Battlefield 3, stay tuned for links to our cover stories hitting the gaming press throughout February, starting with Game Informer right now.

Whoot. Since I bought MOH I'm supposed to be in the beta ...

Release date?

Probably latter part of the year...Worf you're going to have to sit this one out mate

pls let the jet have force feedback joystick control - I have never been able to use my very expensive toy :(

i think i will drop BFBC2 and switch straight to BF3 when it's out.hope i can destroy buildings.it's going to be fun crashing a jet into a building full of snipers.

need more maps for bad company 2 tbh .....

make a city map !!

battlefield 3 will be glorious!! , awesome is an understatement :D

Depends on their approach for BF3. If they made a game for the BF players (1942, Vietnam, 2) with large open maps and plenty of vehicles, then it should be fine. However if they try to satisfy the BC2/COD players with linear small maps, then it will suck as a BF2 follow up, especially with aircraft in the equation.
They keep on releasing info on the engine used, but I haven't seen any info on the maps. This will make or break the game, for me anyway, because I don't play BF for its infantry action, I want to be the one sneaking around the map, capturing flags at the back and hope to try and avoid close quarter action. That was what made BF2 so great, it accommodated a lot of different playing styles.

Only if you preordered the Tier 1 or Limited Edition or bought either of them, then you will get a beta invite. If it doesn't indicate it on the box, then you won't get access.

There normal edition wasn't part of that deal. :)

hmmm this is gonna be really really hard ... extra nappies or BF3 sigh!!!!!

It's so sad to see people get so exited about a game that will undoubtably be horribly buggy and have terrible hit detection when it comes out. At least those who stick with it for a couple of months will, hopefully, have the game they deserve.

Good luck.

Battlefield 3 to feature Tehran, Paris and New York. Will have spotting and dog tags

More Battlefield 3 information has emerged, revealing that Tehran, New York and Paris will all feature as major locations in the game. An updated version of the spotting system in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be in the game, as well as knives, dog tags and bullet drop. Read on for more info.

Product listing information on the Game website lists Tehran, New York and Paris as major locations in the game. Tehran was confirmed by Battlefield 3 Lead Gameplay Designer, Alan Kertz, who has been aswering questions on Twitter, unveiling a few more nuggets in the process.

Kertz reveals that Battlefield 3 will have a spotting system similar to that of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in which players could tap a button and highlight an enemy to the rest of the team. The specifics of the spotting system have yet to be finalised though. “Spotted enemies could have a bomb dropped on them by an orbital space cannon for all I’ve decided right now,” says Kertz.

We already know that the ability to go prone will be in Battlefield 3, but doing it in midair will be impossible, eliminating ‘dolphin diving’. Bullet physics will work in a similar way to Bad Company 2, with gravity and distance affecting projectile trajectories, but the system will be updated. “Yes, there is bullet drop. Doesn’t work the same as BC2 though, it’s a much deeper system.” Close combat kills and dog tags will also make the transition from Bad Company 2. “There will be a knife, there will be dogtags. No details for now.”

Kertz also mentions that there will be friendly fire options, and there won’t be ziplines or grappling hooks, saying “you don’t kill CoD by trying to be CoD. You kill CoD by making a better shooter.” For more Battlefield information, check out the announcement post and the new Battlefield 3 site. The game’s due out this Autumn.

A stable game is more attractive than pimped out game. Battlefield heroes was ultra sexy and fun, but buggy as hell - to the point where I just gave up.

I hope in EA's case 'practise makes perfect'

So when will the Beta be up and running ?

This sounds good.

Will a 384kb line be able to handle a online 64 player first person shooter game?
