So I'm running battlefield 3 on the high setting on 1920x1080 and get +- 50 fps.

My pc specs:

AMD Phenom II x6 1100T
Asus Corsshair V Formula mobo
8GB DDR 3 1333 RAM
ATI HD6850 overclocked edition. [overclocked to 920]

My graphics card just can't run ultra. I'm quite dissapointed but expected it in a way.

Would it help my cause to get another 6850 oc edition and crossfire them or am I just wasting my money and rather save and go big 1 time?

2600k 4.0ghz
16gb 1600mhz Corsair vengence
Saphire 6950 2gb
Western digital Black 500gb

Getting 43-50 fps on ultra except with AA disabled.

AA doesn't add any graphic effect except with smoother textures. But is isn't needed if your already playing on full hd res

AMD 965
HD 6950 2GB
4GB RAM.
1680x1050

Game defaults to high with one or two settings on Ultra - runs well but I play it on medium for 100FPS and less shadows = more kills.

You are disappointed your mid to low end card cannot run the latest games on ultra?

Why?

I'm disappointed cuase I bought a CPU for +-R2000 and its pretty awesome but when I spend R2000 on a graphics card its not nearly in the same range as all the other products.

Yup there is a reason other products are 4-7k though :D. In all honesty ultra vs high is not that great anyhow.

1. Overclock your cpu
2. Is your ram rated at 1333 max? If its rated higher, and your mobo allows it, increase the frequency (Sorry i dont know much about the AMD platform)
3. Getting another 6850 will give you better performance and save you money, as opposed to buying one high end card for the same money. (This depends on the game and the gfx drivers also, but thats the general principle).

In my opinion there isn't really that much of a difference between high and ultra settings. Be happy with what you have and rather save your money for the new cards which are due out soon anyway :)

I checked this yesterday as well. At auto my settings are all at high, AA at 16x, and MSAA is off = 60-80FPS. Tried running on ultra, which yields about 30FPS, but actually no visual improvement that I could see. Turning MSAA off again but leaving everything else at max gives me about 50FPS, but still, no real improvement that I could see from just having everything at high.
