Battlefield 3 still alive?

So I'm building a new PC and I don't have any games for it besides BF3 which I added to my origin library back when they had it for free. The thing is the download is 17gb! I don't care about the data since I have uncapped but I have only a 2meg line so it's going to take around 20 hours to download.
So I'd like to know if there are still populated BF3 servers in South Africa and if I should download the game.

The game is still alive if that's what you mean however the migration to battlefield 4 ahs been going for awhile now.

SA sidewinder BF3 server is quite full during the night.

Since BF4 wont even open since the last patch ive been playing BF3.

That server is always packed, but BF3 doesn't seem to be working for me of late. I'll give it another try tonight. I miss Seine Crossing and Noshahr Canals

Very much alive - servers not as full as always but there is usually one or 2 full servers. Battlefield 3 =

I miss Grand Bazaar, nothing beats fighting those crowded alleys for C Seine Crossing was also epic, as well as Damavand Peak. Operation Firestorm and Tehran Highway are really the only maps I didn't like. They're too open and sniper fests. Operation Metro needs an honourary mention for the points available in a single round

Yes. It's hard to tell, but BF3 servers are still full, so not a lot of takeup with the new game.
