Battlefield starting server or single player game bug

Well I have this bug in battlefield2. The game starts fine. I've patched to the latest patch v1.41. Whenever I want to start a server or a single player game it says. Starting server please wait. But it stays there. I've tried the following:

update my drivers to the latest.
reinstall the game 3- 4 times already.
all graphics to lowest.
had it load the whole night through 12:00 - 9:00 in the morning

Can someone please tell me WTF is wrong with this game as it worked fine with V1.4
The game worked fine at another pc with the same patch

My specs
CPU: AMD 300+
Graphics: Geforce 7600GS 256MB
RAM: 2GB DDR 400
Windows XP SP2

So the game should run fine.

Can you connect to an online game?

also try asking on the SGS forums, Killa, Grim et al should be able to help you out

no can't connect it still says connecting to server and then freezes

Are you capped? i.e can you log-in to the account section?

BF2 connects to EA's master server (in hollandland somewhere) before you can connect to SGS/UGSA/Asaults local severs..

Well the don't bother about cap or anything online I want to play battlefield2 at my LAN but can't create a server. Yes I can login but can't Create or join a server

I think, and I may be wrong, but for a LAN you need to launch the standalone server app in BF2 folder and then connect to it through BF2..
