BB 8520 OS 5 Download

Please could someone offer advice. I would love to update my software to OS 5. I am with Vodacome, and the BB SA shows version 4.5. I have found a site that can update it, but when I run update, it says my BB is BES and it can't update it. My BB is not on BES! It is BIS! When I call the Vodacom data call centre, they look it up and say it is on BIS. So what is the problem? Why does it say I am on BES?

Load your software from your CD that came with your phone, plug in your phone via your USB, click on check for update and update it not forgetting to backup before you upgrade. If it all seems sketchy its cos I'm not at home. If u lost then let me know, will clarify tomorrow.

Also got a friend with a 8520 and they seem to have gotten OS 5 by simply installing the Desktop Manager and plugging in the phone, no need for downloading another carrier's firmware and deleting the vendor.xml

I don't know of any website that 'updates your phone' for you, seems sketchy to me.

You can download a newer OS from a different carrier onto your device. I have found that using loader.exe in the "Research in motion folder" easier than using desktop manager...
