To consolidate all the BB torch stuff into a single thread :)

Firstly, I returned my phone and got a replacement.
Sadly, it seems that now the top of the phone (the sliding bit) has play on it...
nothing bad, and my g/f seems to think i am overly sensitive about it, but its there...and it wasnt on my last one...
anyone else got this?

Secondly,
any cool apps anyone can recommend?

Another thing,
If i add a new contact, how do i get it to link with their facebook profile and pull their pic etc??

My first one ... (Bought off bidorbuy local Vodacom stock) had a problem with it, the trackpad would select "left" randomly as if you were sliding your finger left on it.
For example ... you would leave the phone on the table and it would continuously select the "left" icon and continue to do so even tho you are not using it. Even when typing a message, it would go left selecting previous characters and making it hard for you to type anything completely ... Anyone else with this issue?
Second one will be brand new from Vodacom. Hope that is 100%

No, but it seems there are lots of trackpad issues..
mine fortunately, is sorted...

I had got a BB Torch on Saturday and had the same issue as Scooby with the randomly selecting - though mine seems left/down. Here's the weird bit though - it only happened in dark surroundings ... try explain that to Vodashop? ;)

Anyway - got the replacement and I the slide isn't as smooth as the first one (almost like a grain of sand in the slide) - but I'm not going to take it back. I can live with it.

Regarding the second, you need to log in the Facebook profile and it does it automatically?

PS I honestly found the Bold to have a better build quality, better exterior speaker and better LED notifications. It's not as much of a 'wow' as I thought going from a Bold 9700.

Oh - for those that didn't link automatically, I think I logged onto Facebook on the PC and linked from there

So the trackpad is a common issue ... I made a difficult choice recently of whether to leave my "trusty" iPhone 3GS and go for the Torch. I have never owned any other phone that had build issues like this.
Very dissappointed with it in that regard.

If it makes you feel better, I think it's below par for Blackberry.

My BB9700 is awesome quality wise

Yeah Dolby ... I had a Bold 9000 a while ago and it was "solid" ... gave zero issues hardware and software.
Tons of iPhones (maybe 10) ... non ever gave me an issue.
I'm just dissappointed I guess coz I've waiting a loooong time for this phone and when I finally got it ... it let me down!
But I have'nt given up on the thing ... we'll see how the next one goes ;)

Download the Facebook App >>> open it >>> log in >>> scroll right until you are on the contacts tab >>> select the contact you would like to link >>> choose "Connect to Blackberry Contact"

Awesome thanks man!!

What firmware is on your devices? Does it have the latest version installed?? OS 6.0.0.246

I don't have problems at all. Not with the slide, not with the trackpad and the phone feels really solid. Only problem is the loudspeaker that is a bit soft but thats not a real issue for me. That should be sorted in a firmware update.

I was runnng .284 on the one I had for a few "hours" ... lol ;)

No P ... was definately a hardware issue ... if you actually looked really close at the trackpad you would see it a hair lower on the left hand side than the right.
It was "faulty" on the official software so I thought it was a software issue and upgraded to the .284 with no luck and then back to .246 with no luck.
Definately hardware hey.
