BB 9900 losing connection

My BB9900 sporadically loses connection when switching between Edge and 3G.

It drops the signal completely and it then restores a while later. It happens in various locations and is not confined to work and home.
Vodacom’s solution is to monitor the phone for a few hours and then reinstalling it.
Not really in the mood for that schlep and then it not helping at all.

Anybody had a similar problem and a possible cure?
 
I'm getting the same thing. I just got the phone and am deciding whether to have it swapped out for a new one. I have read however, that other people also experienced this and getting a new phone made no difference :(
 
I see it too. Not a BlackBerry specific issue either; at the location in question, a friend has his iPhone drop connection too. Vodacom, in both cases.
