BB Curve Restarting

I have a BB Curve 8900, about 15 months old.

Updated the software a while back and the device began restarting. It's now gotten terrible and restarts frequently (and takes a couple of minutes to come back up).

Is there anything I can do?

I think it's memory related, because it happens every single time I try surf the web. It also happens randomly when idle and in other applications.

Is there a way to force a format and re-install the OS?

I am not sure how true this is...but I heard if a Blackberry does this it is due to the memory card that became corrupted (might have been caused by the firmware update). Try and format the memory card and see if it helps?

I had a similar issue.

Do the following:

Install s/w on PC (CD comes with BB in box)
Then upgrade that s/w to latest version from web (run update)
Upgrade your s/w on your BB[1]

That worked and saved me a few hundred and effort!

I've had this issue with a number of 8900s. What I ended up doing with some of them, and it actually helped, was to completely wipe and reload the OS. The procedure to do that is described here: http://forums.crackberry.com/f3/how-do-i-recover-dead-blackberry-32322/
