BB Messenger - Groups vs Battery Life

I have about 5 groups on BBM and when the people their chat it kills my battery!!

I also use my BB quite alot during the day for work.

Is there a way to lower battery use with the BB groups? Turning notifications off dont work on the new BBM...

Delete the groups rather invite them to a conference, I did notice when I was in group slowed my bb a lot and dam it froze a lot..

If you don't use your bb put it on standby my bb can last me about 6hours without any talk time with continuously use, browsing,bbm, etc....

Not sure what blackberry you use but I keep mine on 2G (EDGE) most of the time (trick I picked from my iPhone ).
