So the Arc didn't appeal to you?
Yeah, I thought so too
Sent from my GT-I9100 using MyBroadband Android App
How are you enjoying the phone so far?
Installed a swipe like keyboard yet?
Best Smartphone OS = Android Gingerbread (best Android phone = SGS2 imo).
Best tablet OS = iOS.
For me the quality of apps is a big issue and here Apple beats Android hands down. I am not happy with Android's apps in general and with that available for Honeycomb in particular. The quality filter Apple applies makes for a much better app experience imo. Too many copies of copies of poor apps on Android that inflate the numbers but add nothing in quality. Graphic design is very important to me and here the quality control on iOS makes for way better designed - beaultiful - apps. On Android functionality trumps beauty and one is at times horrified by the ugliness of some Android apps.
The iPhone 4 screen is just too small. Since I started using the SGS2 the iPhone 4 screen looks way too small and limited. The SGS2 is also much thinner and very light. I'm sure the iPhone 5 will set a new benchmark again but right now the SGS2 must be the best phone available.
Have you tried MIUI... it really change things a lot, esp quality of the UI in the applications.
I am planning to do so yes. US rom for SGS2 needed ... and then I need to first be 100 % sure my phone is okay (warranty issues) ... my SGS2 have this nack of turning off ... did a factory reset and manual re-install of everything to test it. Keen to get MIUI on. Wish the nice alternative loader app you recommended for my tablet worked on the SGT10.1 ... crashes :-(.
Yeah, kinda sucks that Samsung is behind on updates.
On that note, the final update for Honeycomb has been released and is spreading to the Xoom's 3.2.1 will be the last update on Honeycomb till next month when 4.0 will be released. Rumor has it that it will be on the same day as iOS 5 or around the same time.
Asus, will as usual, get 3.2.1 rolling out, in about 3 weeks.
Saying that you've used them all, have you done so for a month or more? I'm guessing not. I've owned an SGS now for more than a year and recently decided to upgrade my one contract to an iPhone 4, for want of something different. After using the iPhone now for a month as my primary phone and jumping back to my SGS this week, I realize how utterly restricted I was on the iPhone. The "crispness" of the IPS screen is negligible as my eyes cannot differentiate the higher resolution between that and the Super AMOLED screen of the SGS under normal use. I have to view the screens from a distance of around 5-10cm to actually see a difference, but that might only be because the SGS has a 0.5" size (dis?)advantage over the iPhone. The Super AMOLED wins in terms of brightness and contrast - BY FAR.
The iPhone 4 is a great device, make no mistake, but I won't go as far as stating that it trumps all Android devices in every department. I see iOS as the pretty blonde girl who's extremely easy to get into bed on the first date, but you end up having a very shallow relationship and eventually end up ditching her for a longer-term commitment. Android, on the other hand, is the smart (but not too unsightly) brunette who first seduces you with her wit and charm before agreeing to go to bed after the fifth date. She will ultimately be more satisfying in the longer term as there will always be something else to learn about her that you didn't know before.
