BB9810 or SGS2 - which will you choose

Hi All,

I am unsure between the BB9810 or SGS2 which device to choose. As I am due for an upgrade on my Vodacom Contract.
I need my emails with attachments, web browsing and IM - whatsapp or BBM & facebook. I suppose it comes down to pricing which would be cheaper?

I am using the iPhone 3GS presently & looking for something different - Android or RIM. I have many friends & relatives with BBs so I have an idea of what BB offers- having set up a few

However, I have not seen many people in SA with the SGS2. The SGS2 phone is rated as the best or super smartphone. However,
with the pricing structure, mainly data bundles will it be viable. I noticed Vodacom is giving their clients an free additional
bundles, depending on what you have. I have 250MB per month now I will get 500MB per month-will it be sufficient using the SGS2?

Any recommedations/suggestions..Please...please

I would say it depends on your taste. For a lot of internet usage with attachments etc maybe its going to work out cheaper just paying the BIS monthly fee.think its like R60. Android phones are awesome, but its data that runs through its veins.. currently i pay R189 for 600MB a month.. then i have to be carefull not to be too intensive on internet, i also download no attachments.. so maybe the BB will be a more cost effectice option for you..not necessarily the best phone.

Not entirely sure myself.someone else might advise on that. But i use opera mini and my friend with bb torch also opera mini i think. So probably same internet usage browsing the same site i would assume or close. Sending the same email should us the same amount of data. Android uses a lot of data because of all the background apps synchronising all the time. You can disable most but then whats the use of having an android.

No in fact if you load Firefox on Android and Ad Block plus it can be set to use less even. The problem is that if you did not set your phone up properly or dont manage it there are other services that can lead to huge data use, from Facebook scheduled updates to Google maps and even Twitter feeds.

Well basically just posting it btwn Blackberry & Android - looking at it from both sides never used an Android before - blackberry in my community is EVERYWHERE, almost everyone has a BB!! I really like the SGS2 (though not a Samsung phone fan), but dont want to get nasty data cost suprises

Yes, up to twice as much. RIM do compression of mail and web traffic going via their infrastructure to BlackBerrys.

SGS2 no contest. They are in different leagues. I'm in the fortunate position to be sorted data wise at work and at home so I only use about 100mb/month.

Even with compression that's still debatable, its dependent on how much you actually use your phone, wifi and data combined if i don't download apps i can use less than 1mb per day. I know their is some idiot on this forums who most definitely did not set his phone up properly as he is using over 2GB per month, not sure what he is actually doing to achieve that, maybe having FB check for updates every 5min or something, but he clearly has no idea how to use his phone.

It is not a case of how you set your phone more like how you use it. I want to see you get by on 1 mb a day using services like Viber, Youtube, Skype and using instant uploads on Google+ or even using cloud services like Box to use office documents and all.

Calling someone an idiot because he uses his phone differently to you shows your ignorance of how technology can be used in different ways than the old fashioned Phone only devices. In fact I would go so far as to say you should have picked a dumbphone instead.

Sure you can skip using all those services and just use it for email + html, but you dont have to.
