So the BBBEE thresholds have not changed in spite of input costs and inflation having risen quite considerably over the last 4 years. There must be many businesses who find themselves non-compliant or in the next bracket and unable to comply.
Anybody have some inside scoop that these thresholds may change in the near future? Or with it being an election year is this completely unlikely?

It's not necessarily the DTI that decides these changes. Normally it's the sector councils that reviews the thresholds and makes changes so ideally, if you are affected, reach out to your sector council.

The turnover thresholds are the same across all sectors I believe .... Under R10m, R10 to R50m, and then over R50m.
The criteria (ie issuing of affidavits vs scorecards) to qualify vary quite substantially when you move from one bracket to the next and so many companies may now find that there existing BBBEE plan / structure is null and void because they find themselves in a higher bracket. The fuel price for instance as practically doubled since we implemented our BBBEE structure and this has in turn resulted in turnover (ie passed onto the customer) that exceeds any of our plans.
