Do any SA Smart TV's support BBC iPlayer? Samsung, HiSense and LG do not apparently. How can you steam BBC iPlayer to your TV?

You need a geo unblocking service. Then change the region on your device. As said above there might be different steps to follow per brand.

The problem with smart features on TVs is that TV manufacturers are in the business of selling TVs not software so they stop supporting old models when they release a new model.

This created a market for stand alone devices which take over the smart features. I've been using roku's for over 10 years but xbox had the potential to be the smart home hub before conspiracy theorists kiled it.

Imagine that 7 years ago you would have been able to control everything on your TV with voice and it even had Skype.

Anyway generally any set top box will do it's just up to budget and personal preference.

Smart DNS Proxy say, 'Samsung models out of UK cannot use BBC iPlayer because they lock down some apps'. They do not make this statement for other makes of TV.

If I use a Smart DNS or VPN plus an Apple TV will it allow me to stream BBC iPlayer on a Samsung TV?

I had this setup a couple of years ago and it worked. I since changed the Apple TV for a NowTV stick and I stream BBC and ITV pretty much every night using Getflix DNS settings in my router.

Actually, typing this just now I've got BBC iPlayer playing last nights Scottish football show.

Thanks for your replies. I have just got BBC iPlayer through Smart DNS Proxy through my router to my computer via Firefox. I'm just not sure if my new Smart Samsung which is still in the box will allow it. I'm pretty sure if I use a DNS AND an Apple TV it will work, but I would prefer he TV to take the app without having to use an Apple TV. Any thoughts? My worry is that the Samsung TV will block the app.
