BBM for Android/iPhone - BIS situation?

Will it be a possibility that you can load a BIS plan on these platforms?

I imagine that by default BBM will use your data plan.

Even if you could that would just seem like a major waste of money. How much data could you possible use on an instant messenger app that would justify having a dedicated data plan for it?

To put it into perspective I've only used 2.2MB on WhatsApp for the entire month.
 
Hi

Norma BIS plan is possible on Android. However data is not really expensive anymore if used responsibly, so no reason not to use it. Besides,it'll use the same amount of data as WhatsApp.
 
What's the chances of providers offering BBM for free like they do on Blackberry's?
 
Its not free on Blackberry. You pay R60 a month for it.
R60 can buy you 1Gb of data.
 
I think daiyaan was referring to the new bb10 devices offering BBM free.

Good point. Whatsapp tells me that in what must be 1 year of use, i have used less than 30MB. Even accounting for some tracking loss due to flashing new ROMs (and WhatsApp would always be reinstalled from a Titanium Backup), I've probably used less than 50MB if I account for drastic spillage.

On Cell C that is a R7.50 (compared to R59/month for BIS).

On Cell C, you can either buy 300MB at R45 or 500MB at R75. BIS is R59?

What value add is there?

I thought it was a given that BBM will be free on all platforms. I don't think they're in a position to charge money for it, to be honest.
