Hi, I am going to Australia & NZ for a holiday and wondering how I can use my BBM in Aus &NZ with a Pay As You Go bought there. I don't want to use my SA account as I am sure it will cost me too much. What suggestion you can give me to be able to communicate with friends and family. ( 9800 Blackberry )
Thanks
Vaughan

you can't use you SA PS there, not even BIS, as they will bite you with OOB like you can't believe. It makes the local R2 look dirt cheap.

Think currently CellC is the only one coming close to that prepaid deals with there R50+ deals includes air time, sms, & 500MB data.
Dont know if promotion is still running though.

If you want to be connected 24/7, you'll need to buy a sim card over there. However, if you are only going to be there for a little while it may not be worth the effort. This is frequently true in my case and I then use BBM over Wi-fi for free. Just make sure to turn off "Data Services" while roaming. You can find the setting under Mobile Network Options. I activate roaming with MTN so that I can only receive text messages and no calls.

You can find a better explanation here: http://thetechieguy.com/2011/06/09/international-roaming-with-blackberry-here-is-how/ . If it is working correctly, you will see the four BB spots next to the Wi-fi connection icon on your phone.

If there is no Wi-fi hotspot at your hotel and only a LAN you can create your own Wi-fi hotspot by using your internet-connected laptop using a little program that you can find here: http://www.connectify.me/ . Good luck!

Thanks guys for all your help. I take out my SA sim card and see if I can get a sim card there ( prepaid. )
