BC2 - Cannot connect to EA on Mweb uncapped account

Anyone having a similar issue? Since the SEACOM break I'm no longer able to connect to EA therefore can't even play on local servers, yet am able to download at full line speed via http and news servers...weird

You will not be able to because you authenticate to EA Europe before you connect to local servers. Which means if international is down you cannot play... Had the same issue... Seems to be better now though...

I understand that but what I find strange is that I'm able to connect to Astraweb (Europe server) just fine

Yeah I has the same issue with BC2, Yet I can connect to eve online without a issue wierd.

Check your game version. With the latest patch there were some issues with steam clients not updating BC2 correctly. If you're a version behind it may give you issues when trying to connect to servers etc.

The other alternative is that while HTTP is working they may be shaping the hell out of gaming ports thus not allowing you to connect and authenticate correctly.
