I had been wanting to get ADSL for some time but had decided not to due to the cost and 3GB cap. I decide to rather get ISDN with Infinitcall and this is my sad story.......
I use both 64K ISDN channels (128K), which as you probably all know constitutes 2 calls at the same time and I have learnt a very hard lesson with Infinitcall. During December I was on leave and connected to the Internet almost everynight after 7PM.
The mistake I made was only disconnecting sometime after 7AM the next morning, with the assumption that normal rates would apply from 7AM until time of disconnection.
It turns out that Assumptions really are the mother of all Fxxk Ups, especially when you get a bill from Telkom for R3000.00, Which is exactly what happend.
On going to my nearest Telkom office I was politely told by the lady behind the counter that the rules actually state that you must disconnect before 7AM or you are charged the full rate for the entire call i.e. from 7PM previous evening. I was absolutely gobsmacked.
After regaining my composure and asking her to show me where in the rules it actually stated this, she fumbled through some pages and eventually conceded that she could not find anything stating this as the rule.
I then asked how I could dispute this and hence the bill I received. I was told that as this was the rule (undocumented it seems) there was nothing I could do except pay the account. After some argument I left, as it was getting me nowhere.
The next day I phoned Telkom and asked to speak to someone senior only to be told exactly the same thing.
It seems my only option is to pay the R3000.00, even though I feel that Telkom have deliberatly failed to advise me and probably others of this so called RULE.
So Guys, If you are using Infinitcall....Be very carefull and disconnect by 6.50 AM.
I would be interested to know if anyone else has had a similar problem or experience with Infinitcall.
