Be pushes upstream broadband past 2Mbps

Be announced on Tuesday that it has been trialling the service, based on the ITU ADSL Annex M enhancement, since late last year over its ADSL2+ network. Customers taking part in the trials have experienced average upload speeds of 1.9Mbps, Be said, and top speeds of 2.5Mbps.

Their upload speed alone is 2.5 times faster than Telkom SA's fastest download speed.

Actually, it's more like 250 times, no?

Telkom ADSL 1mbps translates to like 100kb/s
They're talking about upload speeds of 1.9MB/s aren't they?

When I was in UK last year my ISP was Be, they didn't have upload of 2Mb/s at that point but the connection itself was 2MB/s. All for 24 pounds a month.

Nope theyre talking about 1.9mbps (all lowercase)
But its stil quite impressive, however you do get DSL (note no A) connections of 100mpbs. No A infront of DSL means that the upload and download speeds are equal.

I get quite irritated with the low upload speed on Iburst, it makes even sending large emails take forever.

Oh God, yeah, you're right, sorry. It's not that much of an improvement then, when I was there it was about 1.3mb upload, so around 100kb/s I thought this article was about introducing SDSL, sorry.

They are talking about the 24Mbps service where they have now upgraded the upload speed to 2Mbps.. still though even that connections upstream speed is faster than Telkom's fastest available ADSL connection' downstream speed.. God it's embarassing..
