I exist only in my own mind ...
In other threads in this forum you will read of the various problems formites have had with respect to being billed for 1761 helpdesk calls.

I am one of these.

I have spent an enormous amount of time trying to get this corrected. inter alia with various calls to 1761, posting on Hellopeter, posting on myadsl, submitting billing queries via the matins website, and emailing [email protected] (this is the only contact address available). As a result of emailing to webmaster, i received the reply shown below.

Now, in spite of all of this, MTN have seen fit to steal the amount in question from my bank account. I say steal as they have had sufficient warning to apply corrective action and have deliberately decided to take the money.

I have, this morning, once again emailed webmaster, posted on Hellopeter and submitted a billing query advising them that I will be laying a charge of theft against them. No doubt they will not be too perturbed by this little individual threatening them, after why would i be impotent?

Quite frankly NOTHING that has been done by Telkom in all their nefarious dealings, quite gets to the levels of unprofessional ism and dishonesty as practiced by MTN.

secondly after the pathetic response to this posting http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=34599 do you or any of the forum members really think that MTN will show any interest in your gripes

I have had multiple calls from MTN since posting on hellopeter this morning. Apparently they are now going to credit something to my account, so I'll wait until tomorrow to see what it is that they are going to do. I have made it very clear that I have wasted a lot of time and effort and reserve the right to bill them for that time in addition to any credits passed.

Whatever they do now will not be acceptable as this situation should not have arisen in the first place as they had sufficient warning.

If you have made any 1761 calls I suggest that you take a very close look at your account.

You know, we only have ourselves to blame. We all sign up for debit orders with way too much ease.

They have finally refunded the amount. If I had not posted on Hellopeter I doubt whether they would have done anything.

It takes a serious name and shame to get these *&%# people to do what an honest corporation (oxymoron?) should do in the first place.

@Andres - as you can see from my original post in this thread, I had an email stating that they would refund me. The ether it was written on was far more valuable.

@steeve -Ja, you are probably right.

And I thought MTN were the good guys

I have had quite enough of struggling with Vodacom 3G and am embarking on some activism. Now I see allegations that MTN are just as bad, but I find it hard to believe. Whenever I deal with the MTN guys, they seem to be quite well informed and efficient. Most agents
at the Vodacom data helpdesk don't have the foggiest idea what they're talking about. It is so bad that I am considering giving up on Vodacom and moving to MTN. Please warn me if I am about to make a big mistake.

Thanks

Good :-)

Well Bekdik, im glad your **** is sorted out.....just shows what can happen if a person can open his/her mouth ;-)

While we are at it, MTN, do they take money off in advance when you are on a R300 TOP UP, or only AFTER they have given you the R300 top-up...I ask this because i got my Nokia N70 ( what a beaut of a phone ) on the 21st Jan2006 with an amount of +-R250 credit ( on the phone )....So far i havnt been billed..Apparently according to a MTN lady they top-up your phone between the 16th and 18th of a month...So my question is, the monies being paid by me...Will it be for the top-up passed??....or the top-up still to come??
( ive worked out i might be paying nearly a GRAND then...including setup fees, etc....lol )

Your R250 would have been a pro-rata amount.

On the clients first invoice, he will be charged for that pro-rata amount as well as in advance for the coming month. This client’s first invoice will unfortunately be quite a bit.

Think of it as a short-term, interest-free loan :)
