OK it seems that many of us are greatly affected by the 3 gig limit, and lets face it, realistically it's not going to go away in the near future, so how about making the most of a situation that really sucks!

My solution, through the help of everyone, is to create a listing of high quality local sites, which allow us to continue our creative downloads, with material held on local servers, making downloads far more effective.

Intially, the creation of this listing will be quite hard to achieve, because it needs people to seek out good sites, but eventually, it should grow into a really good portal of information.

Anyone care to get the ball rolling by supplying some good local content? After all no one likes restriction in any form!

Only thing that seems to be mirrored on SA is Linux Distros, Tucows and SimTel. Now if you want to make me happy get a local FilePlanet mirror, problem is they carry terrabytes of files. The reason no one host anything else is because they will be paying a LOT of money for bandwidth usage. The owner of the now defunct www.localdownloads.co.za closed the site when Counter-Strike 1.2 was released, he did 175GB of traffic in one day and the ISP whacked him with a rediculous bill.
